MYSTICISM IN JAVANESE SHAMANS: Morality toward God

This article explains the mystical practices of Javanese shamans ( dukun ) called wong pinter and analyzes different types these by comparing definitions, actions, features discussed in various studies. uses field studies in-depth interviews, data were analyzed based on theories mysticism. The study shows that also mysticism rooted Islam manifests history especially Islamic Indonesia general Java particular. finds characteristics are substantive, non-formalist, altruistic. finding supports view shamanism is open to discourses from other religions. does not discuss level actions nor it distinguish categories found many shaman groups.
